Investing in Public Safety

Finn has a proven track record of making the safety of our community his top priority and providing our first responders with the tools and resources they need to respond quickly in an emergency.  His accomplishments include:

• Expanding fire protection to reduce response times and keep up with growth.
  Every second in a fire or medical emergency can be the difference between life and death.  Finn supported the two new fire stations that are in the works in North Peoria to meet the demands of rapid population and economic growth.  These stations will ensure emergency response times in the area remain strong as the community continues to expand, and relieve stations in other parts of the city, benefiting all of Peoria.

• Increasing patrol staffing to ensure faster Police response times.
  Finn is committed to keeping our community safe, reducing crime, and putting criminals behind bars.  He helped lead efforts to increase patrol staffing to help the Peoria Police Department improve response times across the city. This expansion ensures more consistent coverage and a proactive approach to crime prevention.

• Using technology to improve rapid public safety response.
  Finn has supported efforts to use innovative technology and cutting edge solutions such as the Real-Time Crime Center and the deployment of drones as first responders to give police immediate situational awareness during emergencies.  Following a state grant written by the mayor and council, this initiative was fully funded by the State and has helped reduce response times and improve officer and community safety.

• Investing in stronger school safety.
  The safety and security of our students and staff should always be a top priority.  Peoria is doing its part to keep our schools safe by increasing the presence of School Resource Officers in our local schools to ensure safer learning environments, build relationships, and provide immediate response to safety concerns.

Promoting Economic Development

Peoria is a national and statewide leader in economic development – positioning the city as a regional powerhouse in efforts in attracting high wage jobs and supporting long-term economic growth.  Finn is running for Mayor to finish what the Mayor and Council have started and to make sure that the community continues to head in the right direction.  His accomplishments include:

• Embracing innovation through the Peoria Innovation Core (PIC)
  The Peoria Innovation Core is a 7,000-acre, master-planned mixed-use development designed to support industry, housing, and commercial growth.  Finn understands the long-term vision of the Core and is prepared to position Peoria as a hub for innovation and high-quality job creation.

• Acquiring strategic state land holdings
  Finn voted to support the city’s purchase of 834 acres within the Peoria Innovation Core to give our local leaders direct control over how critical land is developed. This strategic move enabled the city to properly site major employers while ensuring development aligns with community goals.
   

• Securing the Amkor Semiconductor Project
  Finn worked with his colleagues to help transform the Amkor project from a challenging proposal to a win-win for the community, neighbors, and the local economy.  Amkor’s $7 billion investment represents one of the largest economic development projects in Arizona history.  The project will create approximately 4,000 high-quality jobs and establish Peoria as a leader in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

Supporting Fiscal Responsibility

As a fiscal conservative, Michael Finn utilizes his more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sector to protect Peoria taxpayers and keep taxes low.  He is committed to supporting financial responsibility – reducing costs, cutting red tape, and ensuring local government works effectively.  His accomplishments include:

• Securing Peoria’s superior AAA bond rating
  Finn has worked hard to ensure that Peoria maintains a AAA bond rating, reflecting exceptional financial stewardship and long-term planning. This rating lowers borrowing costs and saves taxpayers millions of dollars over time.

• Adopting Principles of Sound Financial Management
  As part of his commitment to transparency and protecting the taxpayers, Finn has adhered to the formal financial principles during every budgeting approval to guide budgeting, spending, and reserve policies. These principles ensure transparency, accountability, and fiscal sustainability for future generations.

Protecting and Enhancing Quality of Life

Throughout his time on the Peoria City Council, Finn has always worked to improve the city to make sure that it remains an excellent place to live, work, and raise a family.  His accomplishments include:
 

• Continuing parks & recreation investments

Finn is working hard to ensure that the economic growth from the Peoria Innovation Core will help fund the growing parks and recreation needs in North Peoria. This approach ensures development directly enhances residents’ quality of life and ensures that all of Peoria has access to outstanding local amenities.
 

• Expanding the trail system

Peoria is blessed with scenic views and incredible landscapes.  Finn has worked to ensure that Peoria continues to invest in its extensive trail system, improving connectivity and access to outdoor recreation throughout the city.  He recognizes that enhanced trailheads and pathways support healthy lifestyles and community engagement.
 

• Expanding educational choices and workforce development

Finn has supported the city’s efforts to foster strong partnerships with public school districts, local charter schools, vocational institutions, universities and others to expand educational opportunities.  He worked with the Mayor and others to secure two additional West-MEC facilities in Peoria – strengthening career and technical education for Peoria residents.
