Peoria (May 4, 2026) — Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced today her endorsement of Vice Mayor and Peoria City Councilmember Michael Finn in his campaign for Mayor of Peoria.

As the chief prosecutor for one of the largest counties in the nation, Mitchell has spent decades working to protect victims, hold offenders accountable, and strengthen the criminal justice system. Her endorsement highlights the importance of strong local leadership in supporting public safety efforts at every level.

In announcing her support, Mitchell stated, “I’ve spent my career working to protect families and hold criminals accountable, and I know how important strong local leadership is to that mission. Michael Finn understands that public safety depends on supporting law enforcement, prosecutors, and the systems that keep our communities secure. Throughout his time on the Peoria City Council, he has made public safety his number one priority — protecting residents and prioritizing the security of Peoria’s families. I believe he will bring the focus and leadership needed to keep Peoria safe, and I’m proud to support his campaign for Mayor.”

“I am honored to receive the support of County Attorney Mitchell, who has dedicated her career to protecting victims and ensuring justice is served,” said Vice Mayor Finn. “Her work reminds us that public safety is about more than response — it’s about prevention, accountability, and making sure families feel secure in their own homes and neighborhoods.”

Finn continued, “Throughout my time on the City Council, I have worked to ensure that Peoria remains a city where families feel safe and supported. That means making smart investments in public safety, supporting our law enforcement partners, and working collaboratively with leaders across the criminal justice system.”

During his tenure, Finn has prioritized public safety in budget decisions and long-term planning, helping ensure Peoria’s police and fire departments have the resources needed to serve a growing community. His approach has focused on maintaining strong partnerships across agencies and supporting policies that protect residents and strengthen community trust.

Finn concluded, “Keeping Peoria safe is not just a responsibility, it is a commitment to every resident and family in our community. I will continue to uphold that commitment and ensure Peoria remains one of the safest cities in Arizona.”
